Ema Pires (b. Torres Novas, Portugal) is an assistant professor at the School of Social Sciences, University of Évora. She holds a PhD in Anthropology (University Institute of Lisbon, 2012), a degree in Anthropology (Technical University of Lisbon, 1998) and an MPhil in Sociology (University of Évora, 2002). Having done anthropological fieldwork in Portugal and West Malaysia, her research interests deal with social appropriations of built form, heritagisation processes and the politics of space.Actuellement

Les travaux et l’expertise de Ema Pires permettront de participer, à travers le cas des zones rurales du Portugal, à une réflexion sur les enjeux contemporains de l’anthropologie de la Méditerranée, en interrogeant le chantier des études rurales à la lumière des récents débats sur les mise en patrimoine des espaces et des produits locaux, sur les circulations de main d’oeuvre et de touristes, ainsi que sur les usages du passé, thèmes centraux des études méditerranéennes actuelles.
