Brigitte MARIN, Director

Brigitte Marin is Professor of Modern History at Aix-Marseille Université (UMR 7303 “Temps, Espaces, Langages. Europe méridionale – Méditerranée”), and Associate Professor at the l’École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). She directed the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l’homme (USR 3125 AMU / CNRS) from 2009 to 2017. A former student of the École normale supérieure of Saint-Cloud and member of the École française de Rome she began her career as a lecturer at the Université de Provence, then became Associate Professor for Modern and Contemporary History at the École française de Rome from 2000 to 2006. Her work focuses on the urban history of modern Italy (especially Naples during the 18th century), the supply systems and wheat trade in the Mediterranean, modern urban cartography and police institutions and practices in southern Europe (18th to early 19th century).

Blandine DESCAMPS-JULIEN, Project Manager

Blandine Descamps-Julien holds a PhD in Life Sciences, with a specialisation in Ecology (Università Paris VI, ENS-ULM, 2005). After a postdoctoral position within the UMR “Peuplements Végétaux et Bioagresseurs en Milieu Tropical” at the Université de la Réunion, Blandine joined Aix-Marseille Université in 2010 as a project engineer and participated in the development of the Investissements d’Avenir project. Since 2011, she is Project Manager for LabexMed which she coordinates.

Annabelle GALLIN, Scientific Programs Coordinator

Annabelle Gallin holds a PhD in Archeology, with a specialisation in Prehistory (Université de Provence, LAMPEA, 2007). Her work on West African Saharo-Sahelian Neolithic ceramic traditions led her to lead the project “Printed African Ceramics” (2006/2012) and to participate in the Céramopôle di Aix-en-Provence / MMSH” (since 2010). Since 2012, Annabelle has been coordinating research programs  and participating in the Observatory for Interdisciplinary Practices.

Amaranta PASQUINI, Postdoctoral School Coordinator and International Relations Officer

Amaranta PASQUINI holds a PhD in Archeology, with a specialisation in Prehistory (Aix-Marseille Université, LAMPEA, 2013). With an international scientific background, after several postings within the team, she now coordinates the activities of the Postdoctoral School and contributes to the development of International Relations.

Carlotta TAVORMINA, International Cooperation Officer

Carlotta Tavormina holds a Master’s degree in Prehistory (Universiteit Leiden, The Netherlands). Having attended various European universities, collaborated in international archeological projects and worked in the museum sector she then became a translator. She joined LabexMed in September 2018 to take charge of its International Relations component.

Nathalie CASANOVA, Digital Humanities Project Manager

Nathalie Casanova holds a Master’s degree in Ancient Philosophy (Aix-Marseille Université) and a Master’s in Information and Communication, with a specialisation in Digital Documentary Services (Enssib). After working for the Centre de Conservation du Livre d’Arles as project manager for the E-corpus Digital Heritage Library, Nathalie joined LabexMed in April 2014 and is in charge of the Digital Humanities component supporting the digital projects of LabexMed members.

Mathilde FAVIER, Training and International Relations Manager

Mathilde Favier holds a Master’s degree in Education (University of London) and a Master’s degree in Development Studies (School of Oriental and African Studies, London). After a ten-year career in England where she ran the Social Sciences Department of City Academy in London, she joined LabexMed in January 2013 to take responsibility for international relations and training until March 2018. She is currently in charge of the International Research and Cooperation Centre for Education (PRCIE) at the ESPE (Higher School for the Teaching of Professors) of the University of Aix-Marseille.

De 2015 à 2016 :

Solveig HUEBER, Project Officer for the Coordination of the Mediterranean Forum

Solveig Hueber holds a Master’s degree in “Latin American Societies Studies” from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, and was Research Fellow in International Law at the Institut français d’études in Quito (Ecuador) from 2003 to 2007. In 2015, she joined the LabexMed team to coordinate the organization and promotion of the Mediterranean Forum. Currently a French-Spanish translator and interpreter, she carries out missions of international outreach.
