With the objective of promoting the Digital Humanities and providing support for digital best practices in the Humanities and Social Sciences, many initiatives have been set up to train and help researchers throughout the construction and implementation stages of their digital projects. A gateway was also built with key partners in order to generate a targeted dialogue for the development of interoperable digital tools, adapted to collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
Training
From 2013 to 2018, the Digital Workshops offered three training systems:
- Theoretical: presentations, conferences, feedback and exchanges in order to transmit good digital practices to researchers and guide them towards the appropriate digital tools (including the Mediterranean Digital Humanities Cycle).
- Practical: guided learning and immediate access to tools and software such as Zotero or Hal.
- Informal: during meetings, digital cafes.
Numerous workshops were carried out in collaboration with local, national and international referent speakers (AMU SCD, the Nice Urfist, Huma-Num and PROGEDO TGIRs, DH Med).

Support for digital projects
This service ranges from requesting ad hoc technical advice to implementation of a digital project or archiving assistance. LabexMed also provided financial support for projects with an annual call for proposals specifically in digital technology and co-funding of projects backed by the région SUD platform call for proposals.
In 2018, a call for expressions of interest was launched to support digital projects by providing them with comprehensive support (construction of a data management plan, analysis of technical needs, orientation towards existing tools). This call is part of a start-up process, where project leaders are offered the follow-up and preparation for project submissions in response to national and international calls.
From this experience a project was selected: RevEurop – Development of an interdisciplinary digital library.
Support for participation in national initiatives
LabexMed has been a member of the French-speaking association for Digital Humanities Humanistica since its creation in 2015.
LabexMed was also the driving force behind the creation of Aix-Marseille Data Platform (PUD). It is thus integrated into the national network of PUDs, coordinated by TGIR PROGEDO. It is characterized by its expertise in Mediterranean data, strengthening its capacity to advise and support on the use of this data for research on the Mediterranean. Its role is to support project leaders to produce an overview of data sources available on the Mediterranean, to provide arbitration on the choice of data sources to be exploited and to help set up data management plans.
Archiving
LabexMed pursues a digital archiving policy that enhances the visibility of the entire project and its results, while preserving the history of the program and ensuring access to this data beyond the end of the labex. The publications and media produced within the framework of the program are archived on the HAL / MédiHal collection of LabexMed and on MédiaMed and also on Canal-U TV for educational purposes.
